GEOGRAPHY

 

Uganda is located at the Eastern Africa, bordering Democratic Republic of Congo,    Kenya, Rwanda, Sudan and Tanzania.  It has an Area 241,038 sq km, Kampala is the capital city. The other prominent cities are Gulu, Jinja, Lira and Mbale.

Climate:Tropical generally rainy with two dry seasons (December to February, June to August) semiarid in northeast.

Political Structure: The country is has a Republic form of government. The party National Resistance Movement has been in power since 1986

Language: English (official national language, taught in grade schools, used in courts of law and by most newspapers and some radio broadcasts), Ganda or Luganda (most widely used of the Niger-Congo languages, preferred for native language publications in the capital and may be taught in school), other Niger-Congo languages, Nilo-Saharan languages, Swahili, Arabic.
